Idaho Beat Breaks Mold of Traditional Newspaper

The Idaho Beat, a website based out of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho has broken away from the traditional views of what print and online news sources are all about.
Their slogan, "You report it... We publish it... Everyone reads it!" pretty much spells out that they are putting their readers in the drivers seat, making them the news reporters.

The shear number of features the Idaho Beat offers their membership at no cost is almost staggering. Powerful tools such as an interactive calendar of events, free classified advertising, and discussion forums seem to be only the tip of the iceberg for this online publication.

Idaho Beat Webmaster, Robert Stebbins says, "We want to put the power of the press into the hands of the everyday person." "We have done this by taking a step out of the box, and giving as many freedoms to our members as possible while still maintaining a professional website." "Our website is perfect for student journalists and user friendly enough for the homemaker that just wants something new and fun to do during the day."

Featured Idaho Blog

For years Idaho native "stebbijo," as she likes to be called has published articles to the internet. In 1999 her website, Nuck 'n Futs won the Golden Web Award.

Recently she has taken her critical eye of recent news and events, as well as her daily life to the popular world of blogging.  Her blog: the Angry Commentator, uses a customized version of the open source content management software PostNuke.

We don't know if she will win any awards for her blog, but the Angry Commentator is worth a visit.

Lawyer Joke

Two attorneys were strolling downtown Coeur d'Alene, Idaho when a very beautiful lady wearing a swim suit roller skated by. "Wow!! I'd like to ***** her!," said the first. To which the second replied, "Outta what?"
